Save your used wine corks for making a variety of craft projects. Once you have saved dozens of wine corks, you can follow a simple pattern of construction to make several kinds of things. Wine corks make excellent structural material for place mats, coasters or a tray to place hot pots and pans onto.
Things You'll Need
- Hot Glue
- Wine Corks
Glue along the longer side of a wine cork with hot glue. Attach a long side of another wine cork to the hot glue. Hold in place for a few seconds to allow the glue to set.
Make several pairs of wine corks, following Step 1.
Attach paired corks to each other in a pattern. Glue along a long side of a pair and attach another pair, this time on a side with two circles.
Continue gluing pairs in an alternating pattern so the corks are arranged in two vertical and then two horizontal pieces.
Attach four pairs in a small square to make a coaster. Create a grid of corks measuring 8.5 by 11 inches to make a place mat or tray.
