Sony's PlayStation 3 system creates an account for each separate user. The user can specify a handle, or username, and an avatar. The PlayStation 3 comes with default user pictures, but they are limited to a few designs and video game characters. If you have a USB stick and access to a computer, you can easily upload your own picture to use as an account avatar.

Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.

Locate the picture you wish to use as an avatar.

Copy and paste the image to the USB memory drive.

Remove the USB memory drive and insert it into a USB port on your PlayStation 3.

Turn on the PlayStation 3.

Log in to your account and select "Account Management" and then "Edit Online Profile."

Scroll through the list of available avatars. Your new picture will be among the list of avatars.
