How to Set Up a Nintendo 64 System Using an RF Unit. Installation of the Nintendo 64 system is relatively easy. Follow the instructions of Nintendo, which provided this information, and basically just plug in cables.
Checking Your Television
Check the back of your television to see if it has audio/video inputs.
Purchase an RF switch and RF modulator if your television doesn't have A/V inputs.
Connecting the Nintendo 64 to the TV Set
Locate the television's VHF In or cable connector.
Remove the existing cable wire from the television's VHF In.
Connect the short, thick wire labeled "TV" of the RF switch to VHF In.
Connect the existing cable wire to the silver post labeled "ANT" on the RF switch.
Plug the RF modulator into the Multi-out connector on the back of the system.
Connect the thin wire labeled "Control Deck" of the RF switch to the RF modulator labeled "RF Out."
Set the switch labeled "3/4" on the RF modulator to either 3 or 4 and then match the channel of the television to 3 or 4.
Insert the Game Pak fully into the control deck.
Plug the controller(s) into the front of the control deck. Use the leftmost port for one player.
Plug the AC adapter into the back of the control deck. Plug the other end of the cord into a wall outlet.
Slide the power switch on. The game image should display on the television screen, and you're ready to play.

Locate the VCR's VHF In or cable connector.
Remove the existing cable wire from the VCR's VHF In.
