SWAT teams have been specially trained to deal with the unexpected and dangerous, and are known as brilliant tactical forces. It is not surprising that their uniforms are a favorite at Halloween and costume parties. Recreating their outfits can be surprisingly easy and done with minimal expense.

Things You'll Need:

  • Black Spray Paint
  • Knee Pads
  • Black Shirt
  • Toy Walkie-Talkie
  • Toy Handcuffs
  • Aviator Glasses
  • Black Eye Shadow
  • Black Gloves
  • Black Pants
  • Helmet
  • Black Belt
  • White Tape

Use a form-fitting, long-sleeved black T-shirt and black pants as the base for the costume. Use white reflective tape or white fabric paint to put the word "S.W.A.T." on the front of the shirt, being sure to include a period after each letter.

Wear the black knee pads over the pants. Add a thick black belt and hang handcuffs and a toy walkie-talkie from it.

Spray paint an inexpensive helmet, such as one used for batting practice, black.

Put on black socks and black boots.

Cut the fingers off a pair of black gloves, such as those used for batting practice.

Pull the black knit wool cap down over the forehead. Use black eye shadow to create smudges along the cheekbones, and add dark aviator glasses.

Warnings:

  • If you send a child out in this costume, make sure he can be seen at night by adding extra reflective tape to his shoes.
