Get back to nature for your next dress-up party with your own deer costume -- but be careful to stay out of the woods. This deer costume is simple to make and requires very basic sewing skills. Easy to construct in one afternoon, this look is completed with either simple brown socks or -- for some woodlands humor -- hunting boots and an orange hunting jacket.

Dye and Paint
Dye the union suit brown. The dye will dry lighter than it appears. Add more dye for a darker brown color. Allow it to dry thoroughly.
Insert cardboard inside the shirt portion of the union suit. This will prevent paint from seeping to the backside.
Paint a white oval onto the chest section with fabric paint. The top of the oval should start at the neck and extend 1 inch on both sides of the neck. The bottom of the oval should also extend to the waist.
Fold the faux fur fabric in half. Cut a 10-inch piece of faux-fur fabric resembling a spade. This will create two pieces.
Stack the pieces with the right sides facing each other. Sew the fabric together. Leave a 2-inch opening at the bottom.
Turn the fabric right-side out. Sew the opening closed. Sew the fabric to the tail end of the union suit.
Wrap a piece of elastic around your forehead. Cut it so that it fits securely and is comfortable. Make sure that you leave an extra inch on one end. Overlap the ends of the elastic and sew it in place.
Create a dear ear pattern. The pattern should be 5 inches in length and resemble a leaf.
Cut two ear pieces out of brown felt. Cut two pieces out of pink felt. Trim the pink ear pieces so they are slightly smaller than the brown ones.
Hot glue one pink ear piece over one brown ear piece to create a single ear. Do this for both ears. Fold the ears over. Stitch the bottom section of the ears together.
Sew the ears to the side of the elastic. Hot glue small twigs to the back inside section of the headband for horns.
Deer Face Paint
Paint a horizontal oval around each eye. The oval should extend from the side of your face to the sides of your nose.
Paint the remaining areas of your face brown.
Paint your eyebrows black. Paint two lines from the center edge of your eyebrows to the top of your nose. Paint the tip or your nose black.
Add white spots to your cheeks. Affix the false eyelashes.
