In each of the Virtual Villagers games, there are numerous ways to get food to feed the inhabitants. However, some foods -- such as honey, berries and vegetables -- are only temporary, and if the villagers do not learn how to fish, they will run out of food and everyone will starve. In each game fishing is the same: The trick is figuring out how to get access to the lagoon, pond or ocean to catch the fish.
Virtual Villagers 1 – A New Home
Buy level 2 construction if you have enough tech points. Drag and drop a villager onto the rocks in the top left of the screen. He will begin clearing rocks. The rocks will clear more quickly if you have multiple villagers working at the same time.
Remove the last rock and the water will flow down and form a lagoon. The villagers will engage in a small celebration.
Drop a level 3 farmer into the lagoon to fish. After a while, he will emerge with a fish. The villagers will now be able to catch fish and put them in the food bins.
Virtual Villagers 2 – The Lost Children
Place a master scientist or farmer into the round pond. You may have to put him in the pond again if he tries to leave. He will walk around the pond for a short time and then walk out with a fish. The villager will take the fish to the ocean and throw it in. The special fish will eat all of the green algae that are covering the surface of the water.
Drag villagers to the ocean and they will begin to catch fish as a new food source.
Move the villagers back to the water if they refuse to fish. They will eventually earn farming skill points and continue to fish on their own.
Virtual Villagers 3 – The Secret City
Create a magic potion in the lab to get rid of the sharks in the ocean. Magic Faction uses two roses and one berry to make the potion. If you chose Nature Faction, use two black orchids and one pitcher plant to create the concoction.
Drop the island residents onto the cauldron that contains the potion. They will take it to the sea, and the sharks will leave the area.
Place the villager farmers in the ocean after the sharks have left. They will stay in the water for a few seconds and walk out with fish and other seafood.
Virtual Villagers 4 – Tree of Life
Take an adult to the lab and she will pick up a tool. Once she uses the tool to get some vines, she will bring them back to the lab.
Move another adult to the salt water area. She brings back a bowl of water and puts it in the cauldron to boil.
Drop an adult onto the vines in the lab, and she will put them in the boiling water.
Drag a villager to the pot when it has finished boiling the vines. She will take the pulp and pour it on a piece of flat stone.
Place a villager on the rock and she will beat the pulp until it turns into cloth. Villagers will have to be placed on the rock ten times to get the cloth. The new cloth will be taken to the clothing hut to be stored. Each cauldron of pulp is beaten into three pieces of cloth.
Move a villager to the pier by the water. Keep moving villagers to the pier to fix all of the seafood nets.
Move a villager to the pier when everything is fixed. She will remove the nets from the water, and they will contain fish and other seafood to feed the villagers.
