Hanging a neon sign, whether it's at your home or place of business, can be a time-consuming task without the proper tools and method. Neon signs come in all shapes and sizes, but the installation is usually the same. The best way to install a neon sign is mounting it onto the wall. You can also hang it, but it is less safe and sturdy. The process should take about 20 minutes if you have the proper tools.
Place the studfinder on the wall where you want to mount it. Depending on the weight and width of your sign, you're may need to find two studs to screw into the wall. Once the studfinder locates a stud, mark it with your pencil.
Put the level on the wall connecting the two pencil marks you've made. Use the bubbles in the level to make sure the two marks are level.
Put the neon sign against the wall where you want to mount it. If the sign is too heavy or big, have someone help you hold it. All signs should come with a bracket for mounting. The bracket consists of holes to push a screw through. Line the bracket holes up with the marks you've made on the wall.
Screw in the wood screws through the brackets into the marks you've made on the wall. Make sure they sink all the way into the wall to ensure a sturdy fit.
Hang your neon sign onto the brackets, making sure it is level. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet.
Things You'll Need:
- 2-inch wood screws
- Power drill
- Studfinder
- Level
- Pencil
