How to Make Hooks for Cubicles

If you need somewhere to hang your coat in your cubicle besides the back of your chair, you can make your own coat hook. Hang pictures or other decorations around your cubicle just like you would at home by using simple office supplies. You're likely to feel more productive at work when you're comfortable or "at home." You can get this effect in your cubicle without spending one red cent.

Bend the two ends of a wire coat hanger, or the two far ends that stick out and hold the coat in place, together so that they meet. Use a pair of pliers to hold the hanger as you bend without hurting your hands.

Rotate the hook of the coat hanger so it's pointed in the direction of the bend.

Bend the middle of the top two sides of the coat hanger (the side with the hook) so they form a curve, with about 1 1/2 inches between the two sides. This gives you one straight end to hang down one side of the cubicle and a curved side (with the hook at the end) to hang down the other side.

Place the straight side of the coat hanger hook over the cubicle panel. The curved side should be facing your cubicle. Hang your coat or other items on the hook on your side of the wall.

Straighten out a paper clip so you have one long part with a hook at the end.

Measure about 1 inch from the curve of the hook up the straight end and bend it back all the way to bring the bend to a point. Use a pair of pliers to pinch the bend so it's pointed.

Measure 3 inches from the pointed bend you created and clip the safety pin with wire cutters or pliers.

Push the remaining straight end of the paper clip into the fabric in the cubicle's panel where you want to hang something. Push in and then down so the end of the hook is facing up.
