How to Make Round Pillows

Things Needed

  • 1 yard of fabric
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Sewing measuring tape
  • Large cutout piece of paper
  • Plastic bowl
  • Pins
  • Pillow stuffing

For easy round pillows that look perfect in every room, try making a homemade pillow. Not only are they easy to create, but once you have the simple pattern, you will be making them for around the house.

Place a large plastic bowl onto a large pieces of paper. Draw a circle around the bowl. The size of the circle will be the size of pillow, so make sure this is the size needed.

Cut out the pattern on the paper.

Fold the fabric in half and lay flat on a table. Smooth the fabric so there are no wrinkles. You will cut through two sides of the fabric, which will be the front and back of round pillow.

Place pins all around the circle to keep it still while cutting. Then cut all around the circle cutout with a pair of scissors.

Take off the pins.

Use the cutout fabric to sew a simple stitch 1/2 inch from the edge all the way around.

Stop sewing around 3 inches from completing the circle. This will give enough room to pull the fabric through, right side out, and then finish the rounded pillow.

Pull through the hole, bringing the right side through. This insures that you don’t sew the wrong side on the outside.

Iron the round pillow.

Add pillow stuffing for desired fullness.

Hand-sew the remaining 3 inches together. Make stitches tight so the pillow’s thread does not come unraveled.
