Homemade card stock onesies look like miniature baby T shirts and they are fitting decorations and greetings for a baby shower or a baby's first birthday. Make your own onesie-shaped cards for decorations, congratulations or invitations for a baby shower. With a creative cutting technique and some stylish decorative touches, your card stock onesies will be easy conversation starters.
Basic Onesie Shape
Cut a sheet of card stock to make an 11-inch by 4 1/2-inch strip. Fold it in half to make a 5 1/2-inch by 4 1/2-inch card.
Punch a half circle in the center of the folded edge with a 1 3/8-inch circle punch. This makes the neckline of the onesie.
Cut quarter circles at the corners of the open side, opposite the neckline. These make the legs of the onesie.
Cut a 1-inch slit on either side of the card with scissors, about 1 inch away from the folded edge. These slits will mark the arms of the onesie.
Cut a diagonal line from the outside corner of each leg hole to the innermost point of the slits you created at the top. This leaves you with the basic shape of the onesie, with arms at the top and leg holes at the bottom.
Decorating The Onesie
Cut decorative shapes to decorate the onesie using paper punches. Use circular punches and scalloped punches if you want to make lace trim for the arm and leg holes.
Draw stitching along the leg and arm holes with marker if you are not using lace. To do this, draw evenly spaced dashes along the edges.
Glue decorative shapes in place on the onesie with white craft glue.
Glue three buttons down the front of the onesie with white craft glue.
If you don't have a hole punch, use scissors to cut the neck and leg holes.
