LG produces a variety of HDTVs, all of which support at least one video connection compatible with the PlayStation 3 (PS3). Out of the box, the PS3 includes a composite AV cable for standard-definition connections. Although your LG HDTV may support a composite connection, the PS3 is a high-definition device that benefits from an HD video connection such as HDMI. Any HDMI cable will work with the PS3.
HDMI
Insert one end of an HDMI cable into the "HDMI" port on the back of the PS3. Insert the opposite end of the cable into the "HDMI" port on the LG HDTV.
Switch the LG to the HDMI display mode with the "Source" or "Input" button. Press the "Power" button on the front of the PS3.
Answer the on-screen questions to optimize the video settings for the LG TV. Select "Yes" to all questions to use the default settings established by the PS3.
Composite AV
Connect the square end of the composite AV cable to the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.
Insert the yellow, white and red AV prongs into the yellow, white and red AV inputs on the LG HDTV.
Set the LG into "AV Display Mode." Some LG models may refer to it as "Video" or "Input."
