The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a high definition gaming and media device that supports video connections for both standard and high-definition Toshiba TVs. HDMI, or High-Definition Multimedia Interface, is limited to only high-definition Toshiba TVs and offers the highest quality video connection available for the PS3. HDMI transmits an uncompressed audio and video signal in a single cable, making it the simplest video connection supported by the PS3. Any HDMI cable will work with the PS3.
Connect one side of the HDMI cable to the "HDMI" port on the back of the PS3.
Connect the other side of the HDMI cable to the "HDMI" port on the Toshiba TV. If the Toshiba TV has multiple HDMI ports, make note of which port you plugged the HDMI cable into.
Change the Toshiba TV to its "HDMI" video display mode. Press the "Power" button on the PS3 to turn the console on. The PS3 will automatically detect the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to use the audio and video from the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to have the PS3 automatically use the optimal settings for the Toshiba TV. Select "Yes" to accept the recommended resolution. Press the "X" button to save the settings.
