The PlayStation 3, or PS3, is a gaming console developed by Sony, and is the successor to the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 1 gaming system. A CRT television is a television that uses a cathode-ray tube to display the picture on the screen. The PS3 has a variety of output ports on the back of the system, which can make connecting it to your television a complicated or confusing task. To connect your PS3 to your CRT television, you must connect the included audio/video cable to both the system and the television, and switch the console back to standard definition.
Things You'll Need:
- Ps3 Power Adapter
- Ps3 Av Cable
Connect the rectangular end of the PS3 audio/video (AV) cable to the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3 console. The cable has a set of grouped red, white and yellow connectors on one end and a rectangular port on the other end. Note that the plug will only fit one direction due to its shape.
Connect the grouped red, white and yellow connectors on the other end of the AV cable to the matching red, white and yellow "AV IN" ports on the back, side or front of your CRT television.
Plug the power adapter cable into the "AC IN" port on the back of the PS3. Plug the other end of the power adapter cable into an available wall outlet.
Press the "Power" button on the front of the PS3, and hold it for approximately five seconds to reset the PS3 to standard definition and turn the unit on.
