Christmas lights can add a little sparkle, as well as illuminations, to a variety of different decors both inside and outside of your home. While figuring out how to hang Christmas lights on your holiday tree may be easy, figuring out how to hang lights on something like metal can be a bit more challenging. There are a few different methods, however, you can use to get your lights hung on a metal wall or roof.

Use tape to hang your Christmas lights on metal indoors. Clear packing tape can hold your lights to a metal surface without damaging the surface or the lights. Weather can affect tape, so don't use it to hold up lights anywhere they might be exposed to the elements.

Hang lights on hooks attached to suction cups on most outdoor metal surfaces. Retailers who sell lights also will sell bags of suction cups with hooks.

Use badge holders with magnets to attach lights to tricky spots. Use the magnets to attach the holder to your surface and then use the attached clip to connect your lights. You will need to use a substantial amount of holders to make this work, simply because the weight of the lights may cause magnets to travel on a metal surface.

Wrap plastic zip ties around lights on a gutter or other metal surface that might have trouble with suction cups or magnets. Remove the zip ties with scissors at the end of the holiday season.
