Country Western Bars in Germany

It’s not easy finding a country western bar in Germany, but with a good map and some driving or commuting time, the nation’s best little honky-tonks are within reach. Germans appreciate country music as well as bluegrass and folk. Since there are so few venues for straight country acts, the chances of catching a good performance are high. The cross-cultural atmosphere in these nightclubs is funny and relaxed, the food is authentically American, and the beer is the best in the world.

American Western Saloon

When in the capital of Berlin, venture down to the Reinickendorf quarter, where you can find the American Western Saloon. This club features live music on Saturdays and line-dance classes Monday through Thursday. There is a cozy smoking lounge and a generous buffet offered in the evenings with ribs, corn on the cob and country home fries.

Rattlesnake Saloon

When in the Bavarian capital of Munich, stop in at the Rattlesnake Saloon, located on Schneeglockchenstrasse. The Rattlesnake dates to 1985, making it one of the oldest country-western locales in Germany. The club advertises the “best steaks in town." It has a regular lineup of German country stars, including the Rattlesnake Torpedos and the Rebel Gents, as well as visiting acts from the United States.
