Movie Theaters Near the Westfarms Mall in Connecticut

Westfarms Mall, which is located in West Hartford, Conn., has more than 160 shops and restaurants. The mall does not have a movie theater on the premises, though. If you want to take in a movie after a day of shopping, you'll have to venture outside the mall.

Bow-Tie Criterion Cinema

The Criterion theater at Blue Black Square on 42 South Main St. in West Hartford has seven screens. Matinee ticket prices as of 2011 are $8 for adults and $7.50 for children. Evening ticket prices are $10.50 for adults and $7.50 for children. The theater is owned by Bow-Tie Cinemas, which has 18 locations with a total of 150 screens. It is now a four-generation family-owned company.

Palace 17 and Odyssey Theater

These two theaters are both located at 330 New Park Ave. in Hartford. Matinee ticket prices are $8.50 for adults and $7.25 for children. Evening ticket prices are $10.25 for adults and $7.25 for children. The Odyssey Theater has a much larger screen than the screens at the Palace 17, so ticket prices are $2 higher for adults and $1.75 higher for children.

Real Art Ways Cinema

This theater shows classic and independent films. It is located on 56 Arbor St. in Hartford. Regular admission is $9. Students and seniors pay $6.25. Becoming a member of the theater results in significant ticket price reductions. Adult members pay $5. Students and senior citizens pay $4.50. A membership cost is $50 for individuals and $75 for households.

AMC Loews Plainville 20

AMC has a 20-screen theater complex on 220 New Britain Ave. in Plainville, Connecticut. Matinee ticket prices are $8.25 for adults and $7.25 for children. Evening ticket prices are $10.25 for adults and $7.25 for children. The IMAX experience adds $5 to each ticket price, and IMAX 3D adds $6. On Tuesdays, tickets for senior citizens are $6. On Thursdays, students with a valid I.D. can buy tickets for $7.25.
