Using the Sony PlayStation 3 to stream live television to your home entertainment center means that you can use your PS3 for all of your entertainment needs without ever switching it off. This is accomplished by using a TV tuner card in your computer in conjunction with the PS3's networking capabilities.
Things You'll Need:
- Nero 7 Or Higher Software
- Tv Tuner Card
Install the Nero software on your computer. Once the software has been installed, run Nero MediaHome.
Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Nero MediaHome, which will include selecting your video tuner and scanning for available channels.
Click Start->All Programs->Nero->Share->Nero MediaHome and click on “Network,” where you will select your network adapter.
Click on “TV” and follow the on-screen instructions in the TV Wizard window until the setup is complete.
Click Start->All Programs->Nero->Nero Media Server. In the Nero MediaHome window, check the “Enable TV Streaming” box and click “Start Server” at the bottom of the window.
Turn on your PS3 and go to the Video icon on the main menu (also known as the cross media bar or XMB). Select the Nero MediaHome icon under the Video icon, and you will now be able to choose a channel. Once selected, the stream will begin in a few moments.
Tip
Adding music, photo and video folders to Nero MediaHome will also allow you to stream those files to your PS3. They will be available from the respective selection on the PS3's XMB.
