The basic tire tread consists of a series of jagged lines running parallel to each other. The image may be used in Halloween costumes (and in Halloween installations like mock-crime scenes), art projects and crafts. For a little help with the tire-tread painting, look for an image of a tire tread, or even inspect the patterns on your own tires.
Things You'll Need:
- Paint (Black)
- Paintbrush
Paint a stripe along the path of the tire track. The left edge of the stripe will be straight, but the left edge of the stripe will be jagged. The points of the jagged side of the stripe will be evenly dispersed and of equal height.
Paint a jagged line along the jagged side of the stripe you painted in step 1. This jagged line will mimic the shape and path of the jagged side of the stripe you painted in step 1. There should be a space in between the two jagged edges.
Paint a third jagged line, along the right side of the stripe you painted in step 2. This will mimic the shape and path of the jagged line you painted in step 2. There should be a space in between the two jagged edges.
Paint a fourth jagged line, along the right side of the stripe you painted in step 3. This will mimic the shape and path of the jagged line you painted in step 3. There should be a space in between the two jagged edges.
Paint a fifth jagged line, along the right side of the stripe you painted in step 4. This will mimic the shape and path of the jagged line you painted in step 4. There should be a space in between the two jagged edges. Make the right side of this jagged edge a straight line (not jagged). This line is the far right side of the tire track.
Tip
If you'll be repeating the image of a tire track many times, you may want to seek a tire-track shaped stencil, or create a stencil for the project.
