Fabric can be coated in certain substances to change the texture and stability of it. This can be handy when using the fabric for a craft project that requires a draping fabric that is also stiff. To achieve this texture, you can paint the fabric with lacquer, form it into the desired shape and allow it to dry in place. Once the fabric is dry, you can use it in your project.
Things You'll Need:
- Lacquer Spray Paint
- Pins
- Rubber Gloves
- Cardboard
- Fabric
Put on protective rubber gloves.
Prepare a piece of cardboard by covering it with newspaper.
Lay the fabric you want to paint onto the cardboard.
Spray the entire surface of the fabric with lacquer paint until it appears saturated.
Move the fabric into the desired shape while it is still wet.
Insert pins into the fabric and into the cardboard to hold it in place.
Allow the fabric to dry in place.
Remove the pins and use your lacquered fabric for your craft project.
