How to Make an Armor of God Suit

Open up a Bible to the book of Ephesians and turn to the sixth chapter to discover what the full armor of God consists of. Verses 14 through 17 instruct the reader to “stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.”

Make a list of the elements that compose the full armor of God that is listed in the Bible. Your list should include: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with readiness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit.

Keep in mind that these items are symbolic to represent different elements of the Christian faith so you can take things in the direction of your liking. For instance, for the belt of truth you could wear a traditional belt with a buckle or you could make a belt with truths from scripture written on it. You could purchase a plastic silver breastplate like the type a child would wear with a gladiator costume for the breastplate of righteousness. Your fitted feet could be running shoes since they enable people to move quickly. The shield of faith could be a plastic shield or a cardboard one with scripture verses about faith written across it. The helmet of salvation could be any helmet of your choosing, whether a football, baseball or gladiator type of helmet. The sword of the spirit could be a plastic sword, a wooden sword or a Bible since it represents the Bible in its description.

Explain the meaning of your armor to your children if you make the costume for them.
