Due to their grotesque physique, magical qualities and ill-tempered nature, goblins have become a staple of Halloween costumes. These mythical creatures have risen further in popularity due to their appearance in fables, literary classics, horror movies and cartoons. With a few household and easily acquired supplies, you can create a compelling goblin Halloween costume quickly and easily.

Things You'll Need:

Things You Will Need

  • Costume Elf Ears
  • Oversized Bright-Colored T-Shirt
  • Scissors
  • Moisturizer Or Lotion
  • Costume Vampire Teeth
  • 1 Cardboard Box
  • Black Plastic Trash Bag
  • Black Boots
  • Pencil
  • Green Long-Sleeved Shirt
  • Face Paint
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Green Tights
  • Long Knit Cap
  • Create a goblin smock with scissors. Cut the sleeves off the oversized T-shirt, using a series of jagged cuts. Repeat the process around the neckline and hem of the t-shirt to create a tattered effect.

Make a cardboard sword. Break down the cardboard box using scissors along the seams of the box. Lay the box out flat with the printed side down. Draw a 2-1/2 inch thick cross on the box measuring 8 inches across and 6 inches high to create the sword handle. Use your pencil to extend one end of the cross width-wise and height-wise into the shape of a sword blade of your choosing, such as a machete or dagger. Cut out your sword shape with scissors and cover the entire shape above the handle in aluminum foil.

Spray paint your costume ears. Lay down elf ears purchased at a costume shop on top of opened newspaper on the floor. Stand at least 6 six inches away and coat the ears in green spray paint. Allow to dry and flip over to coat the back side of the ears with paint.

Create a goblin cape from the trash bag. Use scissors to cut the trash back along one seam. Use the trash bag handles to secure the bag around your neck loosely.

Decorate your face with costume face paint. Rub moisturizer or lotion on your face, throat and hands to seal your skin against dryness and to create a barrier between your skin and the makeup you will use. Apply the green face paint to create a base color on your face, neck, and hands. Use darker green to circle your eyes and create crease marks across the face.

Assemble your goblin outfit. Don the green long-sleeved shirt and tights, placing the jagged T-shirt over both until it hangs at mid-thigh in a smock-like manner. Wear the black boots on your feet. Place the green elf costume ears on top of your ears and place the vampire teeth in your mouth. Place the long knit cap on your head. Carry the cardboard and foil sword for effect.
