How to Make a Duct Tape Bookmark. You probably think you have more bookmarks than you'll ever need, but at some point you're going to reach for one for that great novel that has your riveted and realize you're fresh out. You don't have to run to your nearest book chain to buy a fancy mark. You can make your own with a handy household item.

Cut a piece of poster board or card stock to the size of your finished bookmark. Lay a piece of duct tape, sticky side up, on a smooth surface. Place your bookmark template onto the center of the tape. Trim the tape on the short edges so that there is 1/2 inch extra sticky tape, and then fold over the edges.

Stretch out another length of tape and flip your template over, once again placing it onto the center of the tape. Instead of folding over the edges of the duct tape, trim the tape carefully along the edges of the template.

Punch a hole in the center of one short end of your bookmark and then add ribbons or strings to the end. Decorate your bookmark with glitter, paint, markers or cut-out pieces of colored duct tape.

  • Get creative and make your bookmark with colored duct tape. You can even use two colors so that each side is a different color.
