A ping test is a useful tool for measuring the strength of your Internet connection on a device. In gaming scenarios, such as on the PlayStation 3 (PS3), it's essential to have a good network connection. The better the connection, the quicker you'll complete your downloads and keep up with the gaming action. In online first-person shooters, you don't want to get left behind. Check your connection statistics to make sure you're getting what you pay for from your Internet service provider.

Power on the PlayStation 3 and allow it to boot up.

Eject any discs from the drive. The PlayStation will revert back to the main menu.

Scroll through the lists to find the Internet browser and launch it.

Input "" in the address bar of the browser and then press go.

Allow the ping test time to run. Once it is complete, it will display your results.
