Warnings:
- Avoid submerging the repaired item in water as this could break down the super glue's bonding agents. Avoid contact with skin, super glue can form an almost instant bond. If contact occurs, flush with water or use acetone to remove.
Porcelain is a common material used to craft everything from dishes to decorative trinkets. If you have porcelain items in your home, you probably handle them with care to avoid chipping or breaking them. You can accidentally drop a porcelain item and shatter it to pieces. Provided the parts aren't too tiny, you can pick them up and put them back together again using ordinary household super glue. It forms an invisible bond quickly and holds tight through normal use.
Gather up any broken pieces. Use a soft cloth dampened with a little water to clean the pieces and remove any surface dust.
Arrange the pieces on a flat surface and decide how you will need to fit them back together before you apply any glue. You may wish to protect the surface by placing the porcelain on a sheet of aluminum foil.
Apply the super glue to one surface (not both), using one drop per square inch of surface area. Squeeze the tube gently, then use the nozzle to spread the drop out over the broken surface. Immediately press the glued surface to the second piece of porcelain and hold in place for approximately 30 seconds. If any undesired glue drips on to the surface, wipe it up quickly with the damp cloth.
Allow the porcelain item to remain in a safe place for 24 hours for the glue to reach full strength and fully set.
