Swingline's official website notes that staplers have been in existence for over 300 years. The company started in 1925 in New York City. Jack Linsky is the founder of the company, which was initially named the Parrot Speed Fastener Company. Today Swingline is a part of the ACCO brand. Over the years Swingline has remained a leader in the industry. In fact, some of their staplers are considered classics. The company produces a myriad of staplers, including high capacity electric staplers, desktop cartridge, cordless and optima hand held staplers.
Hold down on the silver bottom portion of the staple tray. Lift the top of the stapler to load new or additional staples. Place new staples, prongs down, into the staple tray. Lower the stapler head until it clicks to secure the stapler.
Turn the stapler over until the bottom of the stapler can be seen. Press your thumb against the silver tab at the back of the bottom of the stapler.
Observe how the stapler automatically pops open. Use this feature to staple thick stacks of paper by pressing the front of the stapler against the paper stack. Keep in mind that this process may also work for many other hand-held staplers.
