When using your PlayStation 3, whether you are playing games, watching movies or interacting with your friends, you can often find that the loading times for the applications are rather slow. If you are experiencing a longer loading time that you are used to, there are a number of ways to can solve this problem and reduce the time you have to wait before carrying out a task.
Take out the disc you are playing and clean it with a dry, smooth cloth. If there are any smudges or stains on the disc, it will cause a longer loading time as it will take the console longer to read the disc.
Access your PlayStation 3 hardware and delete any games and videos that you no longer use. The more items you have saved on your PS3, the slower things will take to load.
Connect an external hard drive to the USB port on the front on your PlayStation 3. Saving your games and other items to the external hard drive will de-clutter the hard drive in your PlayStation 3, allowing for better load times.
Download any of the patches and updates that you are advised to download when playing a specific game. These updates are released by the game developers and are designed to improve the overall performance of the game, including load times.
Select "System Settings" from the main menu and then choose "Restore." This will delete all of the data off your hard drive, restoring it to its default setting. This will improve the loading times of your PlayStation 3. Back up all of the files you would like to keep to an external storage device before doing this.
