Few guitar tuners are as popular as the Korg GA-1. Its combination of a precise, easy-to-read chromatic tuning mechanism along with a moderate price tag has found it a home in many guitarists’ technical arsenals. Many guitarists use alternate tunings, including the "Drop C" tuning popular among so-called "New Metal" and other similar musical forms. You can tune to Drop C in a few steps with the Korg GA-1.

Connect one end of a 1/4-inch instrument cable to an electric guitar or bass.
Connect the opposite end of the cable to the "Input" jack of a Korg GA-1 tuner.
Turn the volume knob on the guitar or bass up all the way.
Press the red power button on the Korg GA-1 to turn it on.
Toggle the "G/B" button on the tuner until either "G" appears for guitar tuning, or "B" appears for bass tuning.
Press the "Flat" button on the tuner four times to lower the standard tuning four semi-tones.
Strike the lowest or "E" string on your instrument and turn the corresponding tuner knob clockwise until "6C" appears on the upper-left of the tuner display and the needle points directly at "440."
Press the red power button to turn off the tuner and press the button again to turn on the device.
Press the "Flat" button twice to lower the standard tuning two semi-tones.
Strike the next-lowest or "A" string and turn the corresponding tuner knob clockwise until "5G" appears in the upper-left of the tuner display and the needle points directly at "440." Repeat this process for the remaining strings on the guitar (4C, 3F, 2A, 1D) or on a bass (2C and 1F).
