Smencils is the brand name of pencils that are made from recycled newspaper and scented with gourmet scents. However, the company also sells kits so you can make your own Smencils. The kits come with recycled newspaper pencils, stickers and matching scent applicators. Although the Smencils kits come with their own scents you can also use your own scents instead. Or you could purchase recycled newspaper pencils from another source to create your own scented pencils.
Things You'll Need:
- Recycled Newspaper Pencils
- Smencil Stickers (Optional)
- Liquid Scent Applicators
- Small Paint Brush
- Fragrance Or Essential Oils
Wrap the provided Smencil sticker around the recycled newspaper pencil near the base next to the eraser. This is optional.
Select a scent applicator. If you applied a Smencil sticker choose the matching scent.
Squeeze the applicator until you hear it pop.
Rub the felt tip of the applicator over the pencil so it becomes saturated with scent, squeezing the applicator as you do so.
Let your Smencil dry for an hour or more.
Custom Scented Pencils
Dip a paint brush into the fragrance or essential oil of your choice.
Use the brush to paint the recycled newspaper pencil with the oil so it is saturated with the scent.
Let your scented pencil dry for an hour or more.

Cover your work surface with plastic. You could use a plastic bag or tablecloth, for example.
