How to Make a Temporary Tattoo With Eyeliner. Deciding whether or not to get a tattoo can be a tough decision. After all, it is a permanent mark that could be with you for the rest of your life. If you're too young to get a tattoo, or you're not ready to commit to the real thing, maybe a temporary tattoo is for you.

Choose a design. If you're an artist, you can draw one yourself. If you're not an artist, browse the tattoo ideas at TattooFlash to find a design to print out and use. If you're a beginner, a line drawing might be the best place to start. You can always add more details by using color.

Draw the design on your chosen body part with a ball-point pen. If you print or draw your design on paper first, then trace over the design with marker. Cut out the design, and press your shape against your skin. Next, cover it with a wet towel for about 30 seconds. Remove the paper. The design should now be on your skin.

Trace over the finished design with eyeliner. If you want to take it a step further and add shading to your tattoo, Sephora has many cool colors to choose from. Check out their website to choose your colors (see Resources below). If you can't find the right colors, you can always modify your design.

Allow time for the tattoo to dry completely. Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before you touch it. Your new temporary tattoo should last until you wash it off or take a shower.

Tip

Use waterproof eyeliner so it lasts longer. To seal your tattoo, use She Laq, a product by Benefit Cosmetics. Apply a thin coat over the eyeliner and let dry for a few minutes. Remove your temporary tattoo with soap and water or makeup remover. Remember, if you mess up, you can always wash it off and start over.

Warnings:

  • Make sure the whole tattoo is dry, or your design could smear or rub off onto your clothing. Lightly touch with your finger to see if it's still sticky.
