If you are putting together a costume for a play about Ancient Rome, or for a toga or costume party, it can sometimes be difficult to locate all of the accessories you may want to use to make your costume look authentic. One solution is to make some of the accessories yourself. For example, you can make a laurel leaf crown using materials that can be purchased from any craft supply store.
Things You'll Need:
- Hot Glue Gun
- Plastic Headband
- Silk Laurel Leaves
- Hot Glue Stick
Push a hot glue stick into the back slot of a hot glue gun, and plug the gun into a wall outlet. Let the hot glue gun heat up for 15 minutes.
Take silk laurel leaves off of the plastic branch they are on. You will need six to eight leaves. You can buy silk laurel leaves at any craft store.
Squeeze a pea-sized dollop of hot glue onto the top of a plastic headband, and press a silk laurel leaf horizontally onto the hot glue. Hold the leaf in place for 1 minute so the hot glue can cool.
Squeeze another pea-sized hot glue dollop onto the headband, placing it 1 to 2 inches down from the first dollop. Place another laurel leaf horizontally onto the glue, as before.
Repeat this process until the entire headband is filled with silk laurel leaves. To wear the laurel leaf crown, place the headband around the back of your head with the end pointing forward, toward your forehead. This will look like an authentic laurel leaf crown worn in Ancient Rome.
