Breyer horses are high-quality and detailed model horses. Hundreds of models have been released over the years, and they are highly prized by collectors for both display and play. These collectors often call themselves "stable owners," and will create entire environments for their horses, including barns, jumps and tack. You can make a blanket for your favorite Breyer horse to wear.

Things You'll Need:

  • Straight Pins
  • Scissors
  • Fabric Of Choice (6 Inches Square Or Larger)
  • Strip Of Velcro
  • Fabric Paints Or Markers (Optional)
  • Trim (Optional)
  • Fabric Glue

Print out the pattern to use as a guide, such as the one at the Utterly Horses website. Cut it out and hold it over your Breyer horse to ensure the size is correct. Once you are satisfied with the fit, pin the pattern to the fabric.

Cut out your pattern. Unpin the paper pattern from the fabric and fold the fabric in half to check for symmetry. Trim any ragged edges to create smooth curves.

Cut a piece of Velcro small enough to fit on the front piece of the blanket. Separate the Velcro halves and glue one to each side. Let the glue dry completely before handling.

Glue trim to the edges if desired. Use the fabric paints and markers to draw designs on the blanket. Let all embellishments dry before putting the blanket on your model.
