Outdoor flags are used as part of the decor on a front or back porch. Though exposure to the sun will cause these flags to fade in time, you can slow the fading process by taking care of your flag and keeping it out of the sun when it's not in use.

Spray the flag with a fabric protector product designed to create a layer on the fabric that suspends soils for easy cleaning. Use a fabric protector with UV protection to help prevent fading. Do this each time you hang the flag outside.
Wash flags after they have been outdoors. This will remove accumulated dirt and pollution, leaving the flag looking brighter for its next use.
Keep the flag stored in a dry, dark area away from all lighting, including both sunlight and artificial lighting.
