Things You'll Need

  • Black eyeliner
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Light-colored eyeshadow
  • Red lipstick
  • Lip gloss
  • Face lotion
  • Mascara
  • Light-colored foundation (optional)
  • Translucent face powder (optional)

A ninja costume is a great do-it-yourself project because it can be put together quickly and most people will not need to buy anything; all materials will usually be available in your house. Add bold makeup to intensify the look. With great ninja makeup, this costume will look like it took hours to put together.

Wash your face thoroughly and pat it dry with a towel.

Apply lotion all over your face and lightly on your eyelids. This will help your makeup stay on longer.

Pour a dab of foundation the size of a quarter onto the back of your hand. Use a large brush or makeup wedge to apply the foundation over your face and neck. If you do not have a large brush or makeup wedge, use your other hand. Applying makeup with your hand should be a last resort, because it will not blend as well. Make sure to spread the foundation well down to your neck.

Apply your translucent powder over your face. This will set your foundation, minimize caking and help your foundation last as long as possible.

Apply your favorite light-colored eyeshadow all over your eyelid, blending upward to the brow bone. The eyeshadow can be light silver, pink, baby blue or any other light shade.

Apply your black eyeshadow. Start by applying to the outer corner of your eye and sweeping the black inward along the crease of your eye. Take your time with this. The difference between a stellar and lackluster makeup application often is the care given to blending. Be sure to blend the black with your lighter color.

Apply another layer of black. Since this is a Halloween look, it should be more dramatic than anything you would normally do. Adding another layer of black shadow will achieve this dramatic effect.

Apply your favorite black eye liner inside your lower lashes.

Close your eyes tightly. This will transfer the liner from your lower eylid to your top eyelid.

Add another layer of black eyeliner under your lower lashes. Apply the liner as thick as you like. This will make your look more dramatic and make your eyes appear bigger.

Create a cat-eye effect with your eyeliner along your top lid. Start applying your eyeliner in the middle of your lash line, work your way out, sweeping slightly upward as you travel to the outer corner of your eye. Finish by connecting the liner from the middle of the lid to the inner tear duct.

Apply a thick coat of mascara to your upper and lower lashes.

Line your lips with black eyeliner. This will make the shadows of your lips much more dramatic.

Apply your red lipstick over the black eyeliner and blend by blotting your lips.

Add a coat of lip gloss.

  • Add false eyelashes to make this look even more dramatic.
