The portable basketball system was designed with wheels on one side of the base so you can move the goal around with ease. The plastic base of the basketball system can be filled with sand or water to provide stability and to prevent it from tipping over during game play. There are many different brands of portable systems, but they are all designed with the same portability in mind, even with the added weight in the base.
Lift up on the edge of the cap that plugs up the base of the basketball goal. You can use a flat-head screwdriver to lift up the edge of the cap to open it up if it is on tight.
Place a funnel into the hole so you can pour the sand in easier. Depending on where the cap is, you may have to lay the goal down on its side to reach the hole.
Open one bag of sand at a time with a utility knife. Cut a 2-inch hole in the corner of the bag.
Pour the sand into the funnel. Continue opening the bags and pouring the sand in until the base is full. It will hold approximately 362 lbs. of sand.
Replace the cap tightly on the base. Tap it gently with a hammer to ensure it is in place securely.
Stand the basketball goal back upright if you had to lay it down to fill it.
