DIY Felt Christmas Brooch

Make a felt brooch to accent every outfit.

With so many parties coming up this holiday season, why not make an accent piece to go with every outfit? These easy-to-make brooches are made with felt, stuffing, and a needle and thread.

Trace and cut out your felt shapes.

Trace and cut two identical circles out of a piece of felt. The circles will serve as the front and back of the brooch. Cut a tree-shaped piece of felt to fit as an accent on the front of the brooch.

Sew your felt shape onto the background piece.

Hand sew the tree accent to front circle piece of felt. Set aside the second circle, which will serve as the back of the brooch.

Get creative with accents.

Embellish your brooch by using contrasting thread, and festive beads or charms.

Secure the pin back to the felt.

Sew the flat back pin onto the back circle.

Stuff the poly film in between the felt pieces.

Lay the front and back pieces on top of each other. The pin and embellishments should be facing out and the blank pieces should be touching. Sew around the edges but leave 3/4-inch opening. Take a small amount of stuffing and gently work it in between the felt. TIP: Use a chopstick to help distribute the stuffing evenly throughout the felt pieces.

Close the opening with thread.

Close up the opening by securing with thread. There should not be any stuffing peeking out of the seams.

Make one for every outfit.

There are so many ways to decorate these little brooches. The color and embellishment options are endless. This project is a fun and easy way to get creative.

Tip

This is a great project to do with kids. Precut some Christmas shapes and set them out at a crafts party. Everyone will want to make one.
