The new Elvis movie just premiered in June of 2022. Though the singer passed away in 1977, his legendary hits are making a comeback. Artists such as Doja Cat, Kacey Musgraves, and Eminem have put their spin on some of the legend’s most iconic songs, and new additions to Elvis’ archive as well.
“Vegas”
Doja Cat’s new hit, “Vegas,” is taking TikTok by storm. The audio is currently ranked number six on “TikTok’s Viral” page. This has served as good marketing for the movie, as Doja Cat has a popular following as an artist.
“Can’t Help Falling in Love”
Does that song title sound familiar? Kacey Musgraves just put her country sound on one of Elvis Presley’s biggest hits “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The track remains mellow and slower-paced, with an elegant sound through Musgrave’s vocals. Additionally, the music video shows clips from the movie, which include Elvis Presley and his love interest, Priscilla.
“The King And I”
Eminem and CeeLo Green made an appearance in the Elvis soundtrack. The rapper/singer songwriters payed tribute to the late Presley in their single “The King And I.” One may say this duo of artists has a similar legacy to Elvis–their unique sound and rhythm serves as a parallel to the career Elvis Presley had.
“Edge of Reality”
This popular hit of Presley’s breathed a new life in Tame Impala’s rendition of “Edge of Reality.” Elvis’ original vocals remain on the song, but there is a new track to it bringing an indie rock beat that the musical group is best known for. Though not the familiar sound, listeners are pleased with the “new feeling” the remix brings.
