The Yahama GB1 is an excellent choice if you are in the market for a used baby grand piano. But while the GB1 is one of Yahama's most affordable baby grand pianos, it still will cost you a substantial amount of money. A new Yahama GB1 costs between $8,000 and $11,000. However, it is possible to save money by taking the time to do a little research and shopping around before making a commitment to the piano.

Go to the Yahama website. Read about the GB1 and print a copy of the GB1's description and specifications. Use this as a model for evaluating potential GB1 pianos.

Examine the condition of the GB1 you are considering buying. Take along a knowledgeable friend if your experience with pianos is limited. The condition of the piano is important in determining its overall value.

Compare the GB1 with similar pianos in similar condition. Online research is a good way to find pianos in comparable condition. Online sites usually provide photos and descriptions of the instruments.

Investigate restoration costs. Make a few phone calls and discuss the costs of restoring a piano. Describe the piano and provide photos if necessary.

Determine the value of the used GB1 and make an offer. Consider all the information that you have gathered and figure out what you are willing to pay. Negotiate with the owner and reach a fair price.
