Things You'll Need

  • 2 screw eyes, 1/2 inch
  • Wine cork
  • Keyring
  • 3 head pins, 2 inch
  • Beads
  • Round-nose pliers
  • 3 jump rings
  • Needle-nose pliers

Whether you collect wine corks as a wine connoisseur or you simple found some decorative wine corks at a thrift store, recycle those corks into something functional by transforming them into key chains. With a couple screw eyes and some beads you can make your collection of wine corks into gifts for loved ones, party favors for your next dinner party or items to sell at the next craft show.

Screw a 1/2-inch screw eye into each end of the wine cork.

Thread beads onto three 2-inch headpins until only a 1/2 inch of each headpin is left unbeaded. Bend the last 1/2 inch of each headpin into a loop with round-nose pliers.

Pry open three jump rings with needle nose pliers by sticking the closed pliers into the center of the rings, one at a time, and prying them open.

Thread the looped end of one headpin onto each jump ring. Then, thread the three jump rings onto one of the screw eyes. Pinch the jump rings closed around the screw eye with the needle-nose pliers.

Thread a keyring onto the other screw eye to complete the key chain.
