How to Make Colored Snow Spray

How to Make Colored Snow Spray. Boring white snowmen are a thing of the past. Children can make their snowmen come to life with a black top hat, brown coat tails, and red rosy cheeks. The kids will see the snowman in a whole new light. Here is how to make colored snow spray to bring your favorite winter past time to life.

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Spray Bottle
  • Food Coloring
  • Watercolor Paint
  • Kool-Aid

Collect all the things you will need. Prepare the kitchen table or a card table with taped down newspaper. The food coloring stains, so use a safe location. Have the kids wash their hands and meet you at the table while you collect all the supplies.

Give each child a spray bottle. If you only have a few kids give them two spray bottles. Clean the spray bottles out to make sure there are no leftover chemicals or dust in the bottles.

Choose a favorite color and give each child his own. You can use food coloring or Kool-Aid packets to add more exciting colors. These are all edible if the child should choose to eat the colored snow later. Use watercolors if you are sure the kids won't eat the snow.

Fill the spray bottle two thirds of the way with water and add a few drops of food coloring or a scoop of Kool-Aid. The brighter the colored water the brighter the spray will be on the snow. Experiment to find the perfect color.

Clean up the prep area and the children. Get the food coloring and Kool-Aid off any stainable surface. Spray Shout on the clothes and set them aside for later.

Get dressed in warm winter clothes and go outside and spray away. Spray one color at a time. Let the cold wind freeze the sprayed surface before adding more color for the best color effect on the snow.

Tip

Use several smaller spray bottles that are lighter for the child to hold outside.
