Adhesive tape is a necessary, useful product. Without adhesive tape, minor tasks -- such as attaching or sticking items together -- would be difficult to accomplish. If you find yourself out of adhesive tape, you can make your own. Manufactured adhesive tape is made using large machines with pressure-sensitive adhesive applied to flat materials. However, with some bits, bobs, and a few challenges, you can make DIY adhesive tape.

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 Meters Of Plastic Film Or Cellophane
  • Cutting Blade
  • Strong Glue
  • Bottle Top
  • Ruler
  • Tape Measure
  • Hair Dryer
  • Liquid Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Glue

Place your 2m strip of plastic film or cellophane on a hard surface. Use a tape measure and measure the width and depth of the bottle top. Measure the same width onto your plastic film and use a ruler to draw a line that indicates where you need to cut. Using a cutting blade, cut along the line drawn on your material.

Use the strong glue to adhere the end of the plastic film to the bottle top. If the plastic film is too wide, use the cutting knife and cut it slimmer so it fits evenly around the bottle top. Glue the tape once around the circle.

Hold the end of the plastic film firmly as you paint the pressure-sensitive adhesive glue onto one side of the film.

Hold the hair dryer over the glue for a few minutes until you can tell that the liquid has evaporated. Once dry, only the adhesive is left behind.

Pull the plastic film tight and roll it around the plastic circle. Take your time when doing this so that there are no air bubbles between the layers.

Let the tape sit for 30 minutes. Your homemade adhesive tape is now ready to use.

Warnings:

  • Don't allow the wet adhesive glue on your skin or near your eyes.
