Things You'll Need
- Patterned Scrapbook paper or construction paper
- Glue stick
- Poster board
- Permanent markers
Giant greeting cards are widespread at gift shops and drug stores around holidays, especially Valentine's Day. These oversized cards might be humorous, but they're also expensive. Make your own card with giant sheets of poster board and lots of imagination–customize it by decorating with craft supplies to fit any holiday or occasion.
Draw decorative shapes on patterned scrapbook paper or construction paper with your pencil. Choose shapes like party hat cones for birthdays, hearts for Valentine's Day or anniversaries or Christmas trees for Christmas.
Fold your poster board in half so it will open like a card.
Apply glue to the backs of your decorative shapes with a glue stick and smooth them in place onto your giant card. Place images randomly or arrange them around the edges to create a border.
Hold letter stencils in place on your card and use colored permanent markers to trace and fill-in the letters. Spell out a holiday or congratulatory message on the front of the card and a more personal message inside.
Apply beads of glitter glue to highlight the outer edges of your shapes and lettering. Allow the glue to dry.
Glue a pom-pom craft ball onto the tip of the party hat if you used a party hat shape when you cut out your shapes.
