Whether you are creating a mold of a doll or model which you have purchased, or creating a mold based on a design of your own creation, forming your own silicon-rubber mold enables you to create a form for cheap production of multiple dolls. This is especially useful for creation of dolls for tabletop games which feature many identical pieces, as you can pour your own models for much less than purchasing manufactured ones.
Things You'll Need:
- Vaseline
- Doll
- Tupperware Container
- Silicone Rubber Epoxy
Select a doll to make a mold of, or create your own out of modeling clay.
Coat the interior of the container with Vaseline.
Mix the silicone rubber epoxy and fill the container enough that half of the doll can be submerged without hitting the bottom of the container, and smooth out the surface.
Apply a thin layer of Vaseline to the doll you will be molding, and press it face-down into the epoxy, so that the front half of the doll is submerged, and allow the epoxy to dry.
Apply a thin layer of Vaseline to the top of the dried epoxy and the exposed half of the doll.
Mix more epoxy and pour enough to fully submerge the doll, and leave to dry.
Remove the mold from the container, and the doll from the two halves of the mold. The Vaseline should allow the removal with relative ease.
