There are many small processes involved in preparing your Singer sewing machine for a sewing project. Knowing how to wind the bobbin and thread the machine are crucial to starting a project, as well as the placement of the bobbin. The bobbin case holds the bottom thread of the stitches. To ensure your finished item is stitched neatly, the bobbin must fit securely.
Turn off the sewing machine using the power switch or unplug the machine for the utmost safety. Turning off the machine will ensure the needle won't accidentally puncture your finger.
Locate the bobbin compartment cover, which is beneath the needle plate. The cover will slide and is not connected with screws.
Remove the cover to expose the compartment.
Pull the release lever away from the bobbin case. The release lever is on a hinge.
Slip the bobbin case onto the spool inside the compartment.
Release the lever on the bobbin case so it is snug against the case. The lever will automatically lock into position if it is in the correct position.
Twist the case gently to ensure the case is properly secured to the spool. If the case is not fastened correctly, it will fall off the spool when you try to sew.
Replace the cover over the bobbin compartment.
