Artificial plants can brighten up any room. Sometimes it’s even hard to tell the difference between an artificial plant and a real one. The biggest issues with artificial plants is that they collect dust, and their leaves tend to lose their luster over time. Because artificial plants are so expensive, you want to take good care of them. General maintenance and proper cleaning techniques will help the plants look their best and last for an extended period.
Things You'll Need:
- Duster
- Vacuum cleaner with hose
- Wash cloth
- Silk plant cleaner
Pick away any large pieces of debris. You are most likely to find large pieces of debris in the pot of your artificial plant.
Dust the leaves of your artificial plant with your duster. Use a gentle motion so that you do not rip the leaves.
Vacuum the pot of your artificial plant with the hose of your vacuum.
Wet your wash cloth and wring out any excess moisture. Wipe down the leaves of your artificial plant. Pay special attention to any soiled areas.
Apply a silk plant cleaner to the leaves of your artificial plant. Once it dries the leaves will shine brightly. However, make sure the plant is thoroughly clean before you apply the silk plant cleaner, as the dirt will be visible through the shine if it is not.
