The PlayStation 3 offers a wireless controller, which allows you to play games more comfortably, without being right on top of the console. It is important to know how much battery life your PlayStation 3 controller has. The last thing most gamers want is to lose battery power in the middle of an important battle. If you determine that your controller's battery is running low, use the USB charger to bring it back to life. Charging your controller to full power generally takes a few hours.

Turn on the PS3 and the wireless controller.

Press the PS button down and hold it for a few seconds. The PS button is the one in the middle of the controller. You can do this either in the main menu or while playing a game.

Take note of the battery icon that appears in the top right-hand side of the screen. There are three bars that indicate the battery life. Three bars mean your controller is fully charged, two bars mean there is about 50 percent battery life left and one bar means the battery should be charged soon. If no bars light up, charge your controller immediately.
