Things You'll Need
- Parchment paper
- Fireplace matches
- Tub of water
- Old newspaper
Parchment paper is the ideal choice for crafts that require paper that looks old. Parchment paper can be dyed with tea and crumpled. You also can burn the edges. You don't need very many supplies to age parchment paper by burning its edges, and the supplies you do need, can be found at a grocery store or around your house.
Light a fireplace match, and hold it in one hand. Take a piece of parchment paper in the other hand.
Graze the edges of the parchment paper with the flame of the fireplace match until you achieve the burnt look that you are going for. Drop the piece of parchment paper into the tub of water if the burning gets too out of control.
Scrape off as much of the black from the burnt edges as possible, as this will flake off on its own and create a mess. Use the length of the blown out fireplace match to scrape the black part onto a scrap piece of newspaper.
