Things You'll Need
- Laundry detergent box
- White, red and pink construction paper
Valentine’s Day boxes give children a place to store their Valentine cards. You can make a box for your child to store their Valentine greetings from classmates and friends so that they can enjoy them on Valentine’s Day. You do not have to spend a lot of money making a Valentine’s Day box to make it look attractive. You can make a box for your child using common craft items that you may already have lying around your home.
Cover the lid of the laundry detergent box with white construction paper. Apply glue to the paper, and place it onto the lid. Wrap the construction paper around the bottom of the lid so that you completely cover the top, but do not cover the lid seal or you will not be able to open the box.
Trace the sides of the detergent box with a pencil onto the white construction paper. Cut out the sides and glue them onto the box.
Allow the glue to dry completely. Cut out hearts from red and pink construction paper. Glue the hearts onto the Valentine’s Day box.
Cut out smaller hearts from a doily. Glue the doily hearts in the center of the red and pink hearts.
Decorate the box to personalize it. You can write the word “mail” across the box, and cut out a mailbox flag for the box. You may also want to add glitter, stickers or trace designs onto the box with stencils to give it a decorative finish.
