Every bride dreams of a flawless wedding with a dazzling dress, gorgeous reception, and the most stunning hair and makeup possible. Inspiration abounds when it comes to picking out a beautiful bridal beauty style, from Pinterest and magazines to blogs, celebrities and even runway looks. Whether it's bright lips, high buns or smokey eyes, brides can take their wedding-day look from the runway to the altar with styles inspired by the hottest trends from Fall 2014 Bridal Week.
With makeup that's perfection, you'll want to keep all attention on your face by pulling hair into a simple and chic high bun, like the one seen here at Kenneth Pool. “Start by applying mousse to give some texture,” suggested Tiffany Chiang, a professional makeup artist and hair stylist based in San Jose, California. Pull hair into a high ponytail, wrapping the ends around and securing them with pins or an elastic. Keep it slick with a drop of gel or leave it a bit undone for a sexier style.
Pretty in Pink
A girl can never have too much pink, even when it comes to her wedding-day makeup look. Try a pink-all-over style with cotton candy cheeks, peachy lids and soft pink lips, like the look seen at the Christos show. The key to a fresh-faced look is a flawless foundation and picking the right shade of pink for your skin tone, Chiang said. Fair-skinned brides should stick with softer pinks, while those with warmer skin tones can choose shades of rose or peach.
Wearing the Crown
Fishtail, French or to the side, braids are popular for both every day and your wedding day. Refine this popular look by donning a crown braid, like the one seen at Naeem Khan. Separate hair into two low ponytails, then French braid and secure each section. Pull one side over your head, pinning it slightly behind your hair line, then repeat on the other side. “Keep each section clean and tight as you go,” Chiang suggested. “You can go back to make it looser if you like.”
Hot, Hot Lips
Searching for a luscious but kissable lip look for your big day? Bright, bold lips made a statement on the runways, with shades of fuchsia, tangerine and coral ruling the day. Get a look like the one seen at the Amsale show by applying the bold shade of your choice with your finger, which keeps it soft, Chiang said. “Do some experimenting on your own by layering more or less to adjust the intensity,” she added. Finally, finish with a translucent powder over the color for a long-lasting effect.
Big and Bouncy Curls
Nail the ultimate romantic look for your special day with a head full of big, beautiful, bouncy curls, like those seen here at Jenny Packham. Mist your roots with dry shampoo to add texture, then blow dry hair with a round brush. Curl hair using Velcro rollers or a 1-inch curling iron, then run your fingers through the curls for a softer finish. Top it off with hairspray for lasting hold and add a crystal headband or wrap for a slightly messy but ultra-sophisticated look, Chiang suggested.
Sultry and Smokey Eyes
Turn up the drama on your wedding day with a sexy, smokey eye, like the look seen at the WTOO-Watters show. Prep eyes with an eyeshadow primer, Chiang advised, then add a velvety shadow in a shade of dark brown, gray, plum or even navy. Build color in the crease of the eye to give the look smokiness, then finish with a sweep of champagne-colored shadow along the brow bone, Chiang suggested. Keep all attention on your eyes with minimal blush, bronzer and a hint of nude lipgloss.
Create a casual look for a low-key wedding with side-swept bangs, seen at the Amsale show. Start by deeply parting hair to one side. Then, with a round brush, use a hairdryer to blow bangs straight back, working from the top side of your hair rather than underneath it. Sweep bangs to the side, then slightly mist them with hairspray for hold. Keep hair down for a more relaxed look or pull your locks back into a loose ponytail or chignon to inject some elegance to your style.
Look effortlessly beautiful on your wedding day with an au naturel style, seen here at Reem Acra. Prep your face with a lightweight tinted moisturizer, then dust a light layer of bronzer on your cheeks and T-zone to add a bit of color. Use a matte beige or slightly shimmery gold shadow across your lid, Chiang advised, along with a subtle brown liner and coat of mascara on just the top lashes. Finish with a hint of rosy cream blush and a nude lipstick or clear gloss.
Sleek and Slick
If you're interested in a modern look, let your inner rocker out with a slicked-back hairstyle, like the one seen at Romona Keveza. Add a small amount of hair gel to each side of the head, then slick hair back with a comb, keeping strands bump-free. Secure hair halfway back with pins on each side and loosely comb back the top section of your hair. Finish the entire look with hairspray to hold. To make it romantic, add a jeweled hair pin on one or both sides.
