Chicago suburbanites no longer have to travel into the city to satisfy their karaoke cravings. There are bars and lounges located in the suburbs that feature large song catalogs, libations and something to eat. Ding Dong Dang
This karaoke lounge features a variety of different-sized party rooms to rent, depending on the size of your group. Guests may pick from a large catalog of songs in English, Japanese, Korean and Tagalog and sing their selection in the company of their friends, in privacy. Ding Dong Dang serves Korean food as well as beer, soju and other beverages. Hours are Monday through Sunday, 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. As of 2010, the lounge offers a 10 percent off student discount with I.D. and half-off rooms from Sunday to Thursday, from 5 p.m. to midnight.

The Sponge Reef Pub and Grill
With karaoke five nights a week, this island-themed karaoke bar and grill offers both entertainment and a satisfying menu. Take advantage of the full bar along with typical pub fare such as burgers, sandwiches, fried appetizers and pizza while waiting to sing Wednesday through Saturday nights. Sponge Reef is also a popular place to play darts or watch sports games, and there is a buffet on Sundays during NFL games. The kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the bar is open late.

With a song library of more than 22,000 songs, karaoke fans will appreciate the vast selection as well as the menu, featuring vocally-themed items. Bite-sized sandwiches such as grilled cheese with dipping sauce or tuna on a croissant are called "Harmonies", and "Warm Ups" include appetizers such as mini corn dogs and tri-mushroom bruschetta. The lounge has an extensive beer and wine list as well as cocktails, including the "Karaoke Courage" martini. For those who would rather bring the karaoke bar to them, Super Starz Lounge offers catering and a mobile karaoke service.
