Wedding backdrops are the background areas commonly photographed during the wedding festivities, such as the place where the bride and groom exchange their vows during the ceremony. Decorating these areas can add to the festive atmosphere and yield more interesting wedding photos. The backdrop you design will reflect the theme of the wedding; the wedding color palette; the personalities of the bride and groom; or a combination of the three.
Fill in the area behind a focal point of the wedding -- such as the sweetheart table or the spot for the ceremony -- with potted plants of varying sizes and types. Use potted trees to gain height; flowered bushes and plants to add color; and even seasonal choices, such as Christmas trees, to to tie in the season or wedding theme.
Hang a high-quality piece of fabric, such as organza, to cover a wall. Use pins to add decorations to the hung fabric. A photo collage of the bridal couple or fake flower blooms are two options. You could also use a hot glue gun to apply beads and gemstones for some added sparkle.
Run fishing line between trees at the ceremony or across a wall at the reception. Hang decorations from the line, such as Christmas ornaments, wind chimes or sun catchers. The line will appear invisible from far away, giving the illusion that the decorations are suspended in mid-air.
Hang Christmas lights in potted trees placed in the area behind where the ceremony is taking place. Mix in some hanging lanterns or candles to add a different kind of glow. The lighting will illuminate the bride and groom as they are exchanging vows.
Suspend flowers by their stems so they hang upside-down from the ceiling. Use fishing line to hang them, as this will not detract from the visual impact of the flowers. The upside-down flowers will add a whimsical and otherworldly feel to the wedding backdrop.
